Jimmie LeRoy Peterson, 78, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away on Friday March 8, 2024 at the V.A. Hospital in Cheyenne.
Jimmie was born November 10, 1945 to Raymond and Audrey Peterson. He lived in Nebraska the first few years of his life and then the family moved to Kersey, Colorado and later to Greeley, Colorado where he lived the majority of his life.
Jimmie graduated from University High School in 1964. He worked for Ram Star Enterprises, Paul Richardson Thunderbird Gaming Corp. Jim had the opportunity to travel quite a lot working for these companies. He also worked at Harsh Hydraulics and retired from there. He lived a few years in Panama and traveled to many states in the U.S. and also got to travel to Japan. Jim owned and operated his own photography business, Sunrise Photography for a few years. He loved working with computers and electronics. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Jimmie was drafted into the Army in January 1966 and served proudly in Vietnam, his duty was Military Police. He was Honorably Discharged January 1968.
Jim is survived by his sister, Connie Hughey, two nephews and niece, Chris Hughey (Joan), Chad Hughey, several great nieces and one great nephew, Jordan Hughey, Nicole Sarnirand, Sierra Hjorth, and Timothy Hughey. He is also survived by 3 great great nieces and 2 great great nephews and many cousins in Illinois.. A special thank you to his best and longtime friend Tim Cole who was by his side every day til Jim's death.
He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond (Bud) and Audrey (Jean) Peterson.
Services for Jimmie will be held at the Cheyenne National Cemetery, May 10, 2024 @ 12:00 p.m.
