Jimmy Valdez

Jimmy Valdez, 72, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away suddenly at this home on Wednesday evening, September 9, 2015. Jimmy was born December 19, 1942, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, a son of the late Floyd Francis and Aurora Valdez. Jimmy married Amelia Aragon on October 2, 1965. He was a proud resident of Cheyenne for more than 60 years, and he served on the Cheyenne City Council since 1998, serving a total of 17 years. He served honorably in the Wyoming Army National Guard from 1962-1968. He also hosted the "All American Spanish Show" on KYOY. His many interests included playing the guitar, singing with his grandchildren, and spending his summers at the family cabin. His commitment to the Cheyenne community and the many kindnesses that he extended to its residents will never be forgotten. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Amelia Valdez; five wonderful children, Dr. Michele Valdez (David Gosar), Yvette Valdez-Plorin (Brenden), Jimmy Valdez, Jr. (Michele), Misty Eddy (Lonnie), and Anthony Valdez (Nicole); 14 grandchildren, Ashley, Anthony, Jasia, Jeslie, Nicholas,Kaden, Brennah, Delenah, Serenah, Arianah, Holland, Austin, Isabella and Zachary; and one great-grandson, Landen. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Monday, September 14th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A Vigil for the Deceased will be held on Monday at 6:00 p.m. at Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home with a Funeral Liturgy to be celebrated on Tuesday, September 15th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church with Father Michael Carr as celebrant. Expressions of sympathy in Jimmy's memory may be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter or to a charity of one's choice.
