Joanna Kline

Joanna Wagstaff Kline died in the early morning on September 15, 2012 surrounded by family. She was born on October 31, 1924 in Topeka, Kansas and was the oldest child of Richard H. and Joanna G. Wagstaff. She was raised in Lawrence, Kansas and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics from the University of Kansas in 1946. She remained a devoted Jayhawker her entire life. Joanna married Duane M. Kline Jr. on October 26, 1946 in Lawrence Kansas. They were married for 65 years and lived in Kansas City, Missouri, Denver, Colorado and Pueblo, Colorado before moving to Cheyenne in 1953. They resided in Cheyenne for 58 years until Duane's death on November 27, 2011. Joanna was also preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard H. Wagstaff Jr. She is survived by her children - Duane M. Kline III of Boulder, Colorado; Melissa K. Clements (Richard) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Stephen H. Kline (Susan) of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Andrew F. Kline (Kathleen) of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania; and Peter G. Kline (Sara) of Centennial, Colorado, as well as her brother Charles G. Wagstaff and thirteen grandchildren. Joanna will be remembered as an accomplished homemaker who was devoted to her family and friends. Her passions were many and varied. She loved gardening, knitting, and weaving. Joanna and Duane traveled extensively, but were most happy when they were with their extended family of which she claimed to be" in charge". Joanna was deeply involved in her community including being a long time member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, PEO Chapter AD, Westerners, Blue Stockings, Colonial Dames of America, Laramie County Medical Auxiliary, and the Country Club Square Dance Club. She delivered meals for Meals on Wheels for forty years. Services will be held Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church with Rev. Robin Chance officiating. They will be preceded at 9:00 am by an internment at Lakeview Cemetery. Donations in her memory can be made to Davis Hospice Center, Meals on Wheels, United Way, St. Christopher's Memorial Fund, or charity of your choice.
