Jodi Knuppel

Jodi Lynn Knuppel went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 2, 2016 in Katy, TX after a brief battle with cancer. She lived her life glorifying God through her actions and the lives she touched. Jodi was born in Greeley, CO on April 12, 1965. She attended elementary school in Laporte, CO and Pine Bluffs, WY. She graduated from Pine Bluffs High School in 1983 as Salutatorian of her class. Jodi graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1987 with a Bachelor's degree in Education. Upon graduation, Jodi accepted a 1st grade teaching position in the Alief School District in Houston, TX. Jodi had a passion for teaching children. She taught at Kennedy and Outley Elementary Schools and with her leadership skills and admiration by coworkers, she became a reading, writing, and social studies specialist. She taught in Alief for 29 years before retiring in May 2016. Jodi always had a love for books and reading. She enjoyed history and had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. In her heart, home was always the Rocky Mountains with her favorite being the magnificent Tetons in Wyoming. Her summers were spent with family in Wyoming including camping, riding motorcycles & 4-wheelers, sitting around the campfire enjoying smores with family and friends. She always made special time and trips with her nephews, Holden and Dillon. Her goal was to return to Wyoming to spend more time with her two nephews. In her last minutes on this earth, she heard their voices in a video which brought a smile to her beautiful face. Jodi is survived by her mother Nina Knuppel of Pine Bluffs, sister Doneen (Terry) Wolf of Worland, nephews Holden and Dillon Wolf, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father, Bill Knuppel, and grandparents. A memorial service to celebrate her life was held on Tuesday, July 5 in Sugarland, TX with her friends and co-workers. Jodi was remembered as a leader and an outstanding educator. She had a gentle, kind spirit which resonated positivity to co-workers and students. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 9th from 1-2 p.m. at the Crossroads Community Church (Pine Bluffs Baptist Church) with funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Daniel R.
