Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Elizabeth McVicker officiating. Joe D. Svoboda, 88, of Cheyenne passed away on May 15, 2010 at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center. Joe Delbert Svoboda was born November 1, 1921 in Agate, Colorado, the son of Joseph and Della Svoboda. He graduated from High School in Agate, Colorado then served in the U.S. Air Force. He then attended CSU in Fort Collins graduating in 1940. He taught high school Industrial Arts and History for 36 years in Cheyenne. Joe had a wide variety of interests including photography, golfing, leather crafts, rock cutting and polishing of woodworking. By far, Joes greatest interest was sports. He was an avid fan of the Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and the CSU Rams. Joe married Nina Marie Frazier on June 28, 1953 in Larned, Kansas. They enjoyed many years of travel. Joe is survived by his sister, Verna Niquette of Denver, Colorado and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe is preceded by his parents, Joseph and Della Svoboda and his wife, Nina Marie Svoboda. Pallbearers will be Joseph Niquette, Edward Niquette, Mark Haley, Henry Arnold, Jack Clifford, Woody Friesen. Interment will be at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. Those who wish may contribute to the American Kidney Fund or the American Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers.
