Joe C. Wallace, 80, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away January 26, 2015. He was born October 8, 1934, in Amarillo, Texas. He attended Georgia Military Academy, spending ten years in the Marine Corp as both an active Marine and as a reservist. In addition, he served four years in the Coast Guard as port security. He also attended the University of Connecticut. Joe worked for the U.S. Geological Survey for 36 years, retiring in 1996, where he twice rafted down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. During his tenure, he published several reports on ground and surface water relationships. In his spare time, he volunteered for Cheyenne Frontier Days Concession Committee and was a CFD Heel. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sue (Koons) Wallace; daughters, Betsy Varland and husband, Steve, of Douglas, WY, Linda Galaise and husband, David, of Dayton, Ohio, and Anita Clark and husband, Phil of Cheyenne; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Bud, Ray, Joshua, Kyle and Charlie; and eight great-grandchildren, Deacon, Shelby, Brett, Cora, Hunter, Cameron, Lea and Natalie. He is also survived by his CFD "car park boys", Colter, Drewbie, Little D, Braedon, and his good friend, Bob Moeller. At Joe's request, services will be private. But Joe says to all his friends, "Have a good one, catch you down the road, good to go!" Cremation is under the care of Schrader Funeral Home.
