John S. Baker, 57, of Cheyenne passed away April 17, 2022 in Cheyenne.
He was born December 30, 1964 in Cheyenne to Jack and Carol Baker. He married Joan Esquibel on July 29, 1993 in Cheyenne. He was an electrician and was part owner of Simpson Electric.
John was born in Cheyenne and lived here all of his life. He went to Hobbs elementary, McCormick Jr. High and Central High School. John completed the IBEW electrical program and became a Journeyman electrician. He worked at Simpson Electric and when his father retired became a third generation part-owner. John enjoyed his job, valued his co-workers and liked to support local businesses.
John didn’t mind the wind, enjoyed his life here and the home he built in the county. Being energetic as he was, John enjoyed mowing his acreage and dragging the road. John also liked to help his friends work on race cars or electrical projects. Winter time was a favorite time to play in the snow. Helping dig people out, getting stuck himself or shenanigans with the kids, neighborhood kids and nieces and nephews always made his day. And let’s not forget he never met a chocolate chip cookie he didn’t like!
There were so many great adventures and memories made. John devoutly loved his parents, wife, children and dachshunds Hoosier, Daytona and Monte Carlo who he took on walks almost daily. John will be greatly missed by many and his memory leaves us with great John Baker stories. John is in a better place now and we await the day until we see him again.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Baker of Cheyenne; Children Kristian (Heather Melone) Baker of Severance, CO., and Christine Baker (David Roney) of Cheyenne; Grandchildren, Kennedy Lee and Jamison Baker; and a brother, Jim Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Debra Baker Beck.
