Mr. John J. Burke, 84, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Thursday evening, May 29, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Burke was born February 17, 1930, in Elk Mountain, Wyoming, a son of the late William Reed and Helen Mildren (Allen) Burke. John served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a teacher in Burns, Wyoming, until his retirement. He was a member of the Wyoming Education Association, the National Education Association, the VFW Post #1881, and the American Legion Post #6. John is survived by his loving wife, Marion P. (Sinton) Burke of Cheyenne; his daughter, Patricia M. Hartley of Cheyenne; a brother, Henry H. Burke of Billings, MT; and five grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Lawson; and one grandchild, Heather Anderson A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Memorial Park Cemetery.
