John Goodier

December 14, 1931 — December 6, 2018

John T. Goodier passed away December 6, 2018 at the age of 86 at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. Born December 14, 1931 in Kit Carson, Colorado to John and Edith Goodier, John graduated from Regis High School in Denver, Colorado before enlisting in the U.S. Airforce. After serving four years, and as a Korean War veteran, John entered Colorado A&M in 1955, earning a bachelor's degree in Geology. In 1958 John met and married his love, Dolores Price. John became a geologist in ground water and mineral development for the State of Wyoming and remained in that position for 26 years. The couple made Cheyenne their home and became active in the community having volunteered on numerous boards and organizations. John had a passion for art and proudly served as chairman for "Art in Public Places" committee for the City of Cheyenne. John was a life member of the CSU Alumni Association, member of the National Western Stock Show - Silver Spur Club, life member of Elks Lodge 660, member of the American Legion, and Cheyenne Country Club. John was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Edith. He is survived by his wife, Dolores, and many friends who loved him. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, December 14, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. A private family interment will follow in Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Goodier Scholarship, Warner College of Natural Resources, c/o CSU Foundation, PO Box 1870, Ft. Collins, CO 80522-1870, the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens, or St. Joseph's Children Home, Torrington, Wyoming.
