John F. Noyes, 95, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Wednesday evening, December 17, 2014, at the Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie. Mr. Noyes was born October 17, 1919, in Burns, Wyoming, a son of the late Henry L. and Lorena (Green) Noyes John was a graduate of Burns High School, Class of 1938. He worked as an Assistant Manager of J.C. Penny's until his enlistment in the United States Army in 1942. During his service in World War II, he served as a tailgunner in the China-Burma-India Theatre in the 490th Bombardment Squadron, a/k/a the Burma Bridge Busters, and he earned the Air Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross. After his discharge, he served as Laramie County Deputy Clerk and was later elected to two terms as Laramie County Treasurer in 1954. In 1962, he worked as Vice President of Capital Savings & Loan, and retired from United Savings & Loan in 1982. He was a member of The Heels, the Laramie County Library Board of Directors, Kiwanis, and a founding member of the Laramie County Community College. John is survived by two sons, Jon L. Noyes of Laramie, WY, and David Noyes of Iowa City, IA; a daughter, Karen Weathersby of St. Cloud, FL; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Alma Mae (Snell) Noyes. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery with The Reverend Donovan Notz officiating.
