Liturgy: A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 1st at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Bishop Hart as celebrant. Internment: An interment service will follow at Olivet Cemetery. Mr. John S. Skarohlid, 71, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Monday afternoon, November 22, 2010, at the Davis Hospice Center following a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Mr. Skarohlid was born January 8, 1939, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, a son of John F. and Evelyn M. (Steinley) Skarohlid. John graduated from St. James High School in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and later attended the University of North Dakota. On October 3, 1960, in Wheatland, Wyoming, John married the love of his life, Thale Nelson, and he owned and operated Logan Avenue Texaco from 1960 to 2005. His many interests including serving as a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Cathedral, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Chapter 100, and enjoying piloting his own plane. John is survived by three sons, Robert Skarohlid and wife, Jeanine, of Cheyenne, Brian Skarohlid of Johnstown, CO, and John Skarohlid, Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Cheyenne; and ten grandchildren, Nick, Nina, Noah, Brianna, Grant, Brian, Wes, Jayde, J.J. and Justin. He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Thale, in 2008; and his brother, Robert Skarohlid.
