Jose Manuel Esquibel

Jose Esquibel, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Jose was born April 5, 1936, in Montrose, Colorado to Ruth and John Esquibel. 

He was an Airman Second Class in the Air Force of the United States from August 1955 to August 1959. After leaving the Air Force he moved to Cheyenne in 1959 and met Dolores Tamayo. Jose and Dolores were married July 27, 1962. 

Jose was a Business Agent for the Laborer’s Union Local #1271 until retirement. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and traveling to visit family. He was always willing to help family and friends with home building, remodeling, and repair projects. He also was a mechanic and electrical fixit guy, no project was too big for him. He loved holiday family gatherings at his home, great memories were made, with a house full of family.

Jose is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolores; his son Joe Esquibel; and daughter Jenny Tafoya. He is also survived by his grandson Julian (Heather) Tafoya III, great grandsons Julian IV, Eli, and Arlo; granddaughter Kristin (Sean) Smith, great granddaughters Peyton and Hailee. Surviving siblings are sisters Margaret (Don) Topp; Patricia (Gilbert) Abeyta; Frances Garcia; brother Daniel Esquibel; and many nieces and nephews.

Jose is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Ruby Esquibel and Jenny Esquibel; brothers Benny Esquibel, John Esquibel Jr., Emilio Esquibel and Dave Esquibel.

Arrangements for Interment will be made at a later date.
