Jose (Joe) Landin Saenz, Sr., 79, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2023, at 11:30 pm, surrounded by his large and loving family. Born on February 18, 1944, in Seguin, Texas, Joe was baptized at Nuestra Senora Del Perpetuo Socorro Catholic Church in New Braunfels, Texas, on July 5, 1944.
Joe spent his early years in Texas before moving to Colorado to work in the beet fields around 1962. He found his calling with the Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked as a Track Inspector from 1965 until his retirement in 1994. He dedicated nearly 30 years of his life to the railroad, working primarily in Sterling, Colorado.
On July 13, 1964, Joe married the love of his life, Josephine (Josie) Trujillo, in O'Donnell, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their children in Sterling, Colorado and later moving to Cheyenne, Wyoming, where they purchased a home in 1993.
Joe had a passion for motorcycles and cars. He eagerly looked forward to his annual pilgrimage to Sturgis, South Dakota, for the Motorcycle Rally, where he could fully immerse himself in his love for two wheels. Joe is now reunited with his late mother, Marta, and brother, Frank.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Josie Saenz; his loving children, Patricia Schmidt (husband Kris), Joe Saenz Jr. (wife Sandy), and Michelle Saenz-Holtzhauser (husband Pat); his cherished grandchildren, Trevon Saenz-Holtzhauser, Tavish Saenz-Holtzhauser, Martha Saenz, Matthew Schmidt, Catie Saenz-Holtzhauser, Anna Schmidt, Joey Saenz III, P.J. Saenz-Holtzhauser, and Makalah Saenz; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Dominic Helmberger, Trevon Saenz-Holtzhauser Jr., and Kasey Saenz-Holtzhauser, Scarlett Holtzhauser-Knowles.
Joe's memory will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched with his kindness, generosity, and love for adventure. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
