Jose Sanchez

Jose A. "Uncle Joe" Sanchez, 81 of Cheyenne passed away April 28, 2019 in Cheyenne. He was born September 23, 1937 in Buena Vista, NM to Pedro Mares and Pricilia Gurule. He married Nellie Abeyta on May 29, 1967 in Cheyenne. He was a water treatment plant operator for the Board of Public Utilities and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Cathedral. He was a veteran having served in the US Army. He is survived by his wife, Nellie; children, Renee (Don) Black of Glendale, AZ Steven Sanchez and Priscilla Desmond both of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Amanda Black, Derek Black, Faith Desmond, Justice Desmond and Malachi Desmond; great-grandchildren, Jaylen and Travaris, Jr. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents and siblings, Antonia "Flora" Andrade, Dominga "Lila" Mares, John "Pancho" Sanchez, Ruperta "Ruby" Gurule. A Rosary and Funeral Liturgy will be 3:00 p.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral followed by military honors.
