Joseph John Cousins III

Joseph John Cousins III, of Cheyenne passed on July 8, 2023, in Cheyenne, in his home surrounded by his three children. He was born on January 6, 1950, in Cheyenne Wyoming.

Joe proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Joe had many occupations in his life but fondly remembered his time working for US Forest Service in Saratoga, Wyoming. He oversaw civil engineering projects in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. Joe was also an expert craftsman and enjoyed building wood furniture in his workshop. Joe also loved his pet cats and birds and their constant companionship. He also enjoyed putting together models of military vehicles and building his collection.

Joe is survived by his son Joshua Cousins of Syracuse, New York; daughter Jamie Cousins of Chicago, Illinois; daughter Jenifer Viste of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sister Susan Urban of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sister Christine Cousins of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sister Sarah Cousins of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sister Sheila Schley of Aurora, Colorado; sister Rene Hart of Loveland, Colorado; brother Steven Cousins of Cheyenne, Wyoming; brother Robert Cousins of Jackson, Wyoming; granddaughter Korrie Carlson; granddaughter Taylor Stolz; grandson Colin Jennings; granddaughter Eliza Cousins; and great granddaughter Charlotte Carlson.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Cousins Jr. and Doris Cousins (Dupke); sister Teresa Anderson Helvig; sister Judith Branigan; sister Barbara Poston; and brother James Cousins.

A viewing will be held at Schrader, Aragon, and Jacoby Funeral Home on Wednesday July 12 from 3:00pm – 3:30pm.

Military Honors and Inurnment will occur on Friday July, 14 at 10:00am at Olivet Cemetery.
