Joseph Runkel

Joseph Edwin Runkel, 5 months old, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away at the Denver Children's Hospital on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at 10:04 p.m. in his momma's arms while praying the Devine Mercy Chaplet with daddy. Joseph was born December 17, 2012, in Denver, Colorado, son of Mitchell J. and Lisa M. (Trujillo) Runkel, Sr. Joseph will always be a blessing. He enjoyed playing with balloons, kisses, cuddling, holding hands,and having his hair combed. He talked with his eyebrows and especially enjoyed compliments. Before he flew to Heaven, he learned to blow kisses. He was a fighter. Joseph is survived by his parents, Mitch and Lisa Runkel; three siblings, Mitchell J. Runkel, Jr., Gina M. Runkel, and Jordan J. Runkel, all of Cheyenne; grandparents, Scott and Rita Sheppard of Cheyenne, Carlos Trujillo and Janet Espinoza of Cheyenne, and Terry and Karen Borgh of Ludington, MI; great-grandparents, Jess and Jay Ruiz of Cheyenne, David and Florence Sheppard of Hagerstown, MD, Antonina Montoya of Cheyenne, Carlos and Arlene Trujillo of Cheyenne, Robert Espinoza of Cheyenne, Tim and Lucy Woodcock of Lincoln, NE, and Stanley and Jackie Grove of Hancock, WV; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his sister, Gianna K. Runkel; his grandfather, R. Jeff Byrne; and great-grandma, Judy Morrison. Visitation will be private. A Vigil for the Deceased will he held on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 29th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Carl Gallinger as celebrant. An interment service will follow at Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy in Joseph's memory can be made to a memorial fund by going to giveforward.com for baby Joseph's funeral, or by contributing to a fundraiser that is being held by Little Critter's Mobile Petting Zoo on Saturday, May 25th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 2615 Whitney Road, Cheyenne, WY 82009.
