Joseph Jefferson "Jeff" Hite, 94, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, formerly of Harris Park, Colorado, died May 5, 2018 at Life Care Center in Cheyenne. Jeff was born September 2, 1923 in Louisville, Kentucky. He served in the Merchant Marines and the United States Army in the European Theater during World War II. He married his first wife, Doris J. Hammer in 1946. In 1986, he married his second wife, Blanche Joan "Joanie" Humeyumptewa. He was a stereotyper in the newspaper industry until his retirement in 1981. Jeff loved the mountains and made his home in Harris Park. He had a small cabin where the door was always open and he was ready behind the counter to serve a hot cup of coffee or a cold beer. He had a hardy laugh that would warm the room and a twinkle in his eyes that would make you glad you stopped for a visit. He is loved and will be missed. Jeff is survived by his son, Jeffrey "Jeff" L. Hite, I; daughter, Lisa A. Bermudez and husband, Manuel; three grandchildren, Jeffrey L. Hite, II and wife, Alison, Catherine "Cat" Kruzek, and Anisa N. Schell and husband, Richard; and five great-grandchildren, Annie Hite, Abbey Hite, Henry Schell, Emmett Schell and Cora Josephine Schell. He is preceded in death by his second wife, Joanie, on June 5, 1994. There will be a private family gathering. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
