Joseph "Joe" Bruner

December 15, 1938 — May 24, 2019

Joseph C. "Joe" Bruner, 80, of Cheyenne, Wyoming died May 24, 2019 in Cheyenne. Joe was born December 15, 1938 in Rawlins, Wyoming. His parents, Joseph H. and Norma B. (Johnson) Bruner died when he was young, so he and his brothers were raised by his Uncle Charlie and Aunt Marie. Joe attended Cheyenne High School and graduated in 1957. He married the love of his life, Sherill Ann Caffey, on December 20, 1959 in Cheyenne. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the Naval Reserves. His professional career included working for Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power for 30 years and also working for Spradley Motors for 22 years. He volunteered for many years with Cheyenne Frontier Days on the Security Committee, Concessions Committee, and most recently on the Tickets Committee. His many interests included serving as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Sunrise Lions Club and the Sherman Hill Model Railroad Club. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball in the 70's, loved to play golf and was a loyal Denver Broncos Fan. Joe is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Sherill; his children, Diane (Michael), Mark (Elizabeth), and JoAnn (Tom); his grandchildren, Kristopher, Kevin, Daniel (Anna) and Allison; and his great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Jolie. He is preceded in death by his parents; his Uncle Charlie and Aunt Marie Schick; and his brothers, Frank and John. Joe's greatest legacy will be his family. He always had a smile and could talk to anyone as if he'd known them for years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and he is already missed. Private interment in Cheyenne Memorial Gardens will be held at the convenience of the family. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy in Joe's memory may be made to the Sunrise Lion's Club or the Cheyenne Frontier Day's Crisis Fund. He would also like others to remember the importance of tissue and cornea donation.
