Judy Arciniega

May 22, 1945 — October 7, 2019

Judy F. Arciniega, 74, of Cheyenne, passed away Monday, October 7th, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born on May 22, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland. Judy spent much of her childhood in Maryland before moving to Colorado at the age of 14. She attended St. Mary's Academy in Englewood, Colorado before attending Littleton (CO) High School. Judy then received her Bachelors of Arts as a double major in Speech Pathology and Secondary Speech Education from Colorado State College, now the University of Northern Colorado, where she met her husband of 53 years, John. Following college, she was a full-time mother of three before working as a Special Education Job Coach with Laramie County School District #1 in Cheyenne for 24 years. Judy was known for her tireless devotion to family. She took great pride in and loved to travel with her husband and kids, supporting them through many years of swimming, sports and other activities. Along the way, Judy became a second mom to many of her children's friends and their teammates. This devotion to her family earned her the title of Young Mother of the Year in 1981 by the Wyoming Mother's Association. Judy was also one of the first female Eucharist Ministers at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Cheyenne. Later in life, her greatest joy was spending time with friends and family and looking after her grandsons. Mild-mannered and gentle on the surface, those close to her knew Judy as a woman who fought many battles throughout her life. She did so with a quiet tenacity and an uncommon grace; two values she would pass on to those around her. She is preceded in death by her parents James and Betty Ford and her brother Jay Ford. Judy is survived by her loving husband John J. Arciniega; sons John I. Arciniega and Travis J. Arciniega; daughter Angie L. Wood and son-in-law Mat Wood; and her two grandsons, Keigan and Derek Wood. A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Celebrate pink, https://www.celebratepink.org
