Mrs. Julia E. (Batdorf) O'Brien, 93, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away early Thursday morning, November 22, 2012, at her home in Cheyenne. Mrs. O'Brien was born April 21, 1919, in Williamstown, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late William and Irene (Hall) Batdorf. Julia graduated from beautician school and moved to Cheyenne after World War II where she opened her own beauty shop. She married Philip O'Brien in 1948 and became a homemaker, raising a family and caring for her home. Philip passed away in 1983, but she remained active by volunteering at St. Mary's Cathedral, serving as a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and volunteering as a board member for Unified Peoples Credit Union. Her many interests included going to garage sales, dancing and contributing her time and talents to her community and friends. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Julia is survived by her son, Bill O'Brien of Cheyenne; her daughter, Rosemary Kylander and husband, Jed, of Cheyenne; four grandchildren, Brittany Lozano of Cheyenne, Rozann Goodrich of Mead, CO, Jed Kylander and wife, Teri, of Houston, TX, and Jared Kylander and wife, Amber, of Gillette, WY; and eight great-grandchildren: She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Philip O'Brien; two brothers, Bill and Jack Hall; two sisters, Rose Lentz and Mary Noel; and a daughter-in-law, Valerie O'Brien A Vigil for the Deceased will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, November 30th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral with Father Thomas George officiating. An interment service will follow at Olivet Cemetery.
