Karen Joy Lerwick, 70, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Davis Hospice Center.
Karen was born on October 23, 1950 to Harry and Lorene Kesselring in West Plains, Missouri.
At 12 years old, Karen made her choice to serve the Lord and kept faithful to that vow to the end. She married Wayne Lerwick on October 24, 1968. They lived in Albin on the family farm and in later years moved to Cheyenne. For all of their 52 years together, Karen was Wayne’s helpmate, driving tractors, bringing lunches, as well as caring for their three children. Karen loved her yard and spent many hours beautifying it. She also worked at the Pine Bluffs Post for many years and was a volunteer book mender for the Laramie County Library. Karen best loved her family and grandchildren, and they were the highlight of her days.
Karen is survived by her husband, Wayne; sons, Brian (Laura) of Plymouth, WI, and Brent of Albin, WY; daughter Gena (Brion) Griffith of Cheyenne, WY; daughter in-law, Heather Lerwick of Pine Bluffs, WY; and grandchildren, Elena, Brianna, Linnea, Emmett, Wesley, Emily, Travis and Colby Lerwick, and Shane, Jacob, Trenton, and Genessa Griffith. She is further survived by her sister, Velma Dietzel; brothers, Harley (Jane) Kesselring, Neil (Glenda) Kesselring, and Royce (Sue) Kesselring; and nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pine Bluffs Community Center.
Donations in Karen's memory may be made to the Davis Hospice Center.
Services are entrusted to Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home, 2222 Russell Avenue, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82001.
