Karen Cordelia Owen-Flagg, a beacon of strength and compassion, entered the world on September 11, 1943, in Whittier, California. She gained her wings on April 2, 2025, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, independence, and dedication to her community.
For Karen, life was defined by her unwavering commitment to work with Wyoming's citizens with disabilities. As an advocate, she poured her heart into making a difference, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment for those she served. Her proudest accomplishments were her two beloved daughters, Janet Sprague and JoAnn Ives, whose lives she touched with her love, guidance, and relentless spirit.
Karen will be remembered not only for her professional contributions but also for the vibrant life she built outside of her work. She relished the joy of travel, creating unforgettable memories with family and friends along the way. Family visits were always special occasions, marked by laughter and togetherness. Whether it was indulging in a good book, immersing herself in crossword puzzles, or exploring the treasures found in thrift stores, Karen embraced life with an enthusiastic spirit that inspired all around her.
A strong woman in every sense of the word, Karen cherished her independence and made her home in Wyoming, where she cultivated deep friendships and fostered community ties. Get-togethers were highlights of her life, bringing warmth and connection to her days.
She now joins her beloved husband, Mason Flagg, in eternal rest. They shared a bond that was tested by the challenges of life yet endured with an unwavering love.
Karen’s presence will be profoundly missed by her daughters Janet and JoAnn, her sister Faye Jex, as well as her treasured nieces and nephews and her many friends who carry forward the light she brought into their lives.
