Katherine Tinney

May 20, 1952 — March 17, 2013

Katherine "Kathie" V. (Unger) Tinney, 60, of Cheyenne ,Wyoming, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013, at the Davis Hospice Center after a long battle with leukemia. Kathie was born in Mobile, Alabama, on May 20, 1952, to Don and Alice Unger. They then moved to Scotland and Texas and then Colorado. She graduated from Northglenn High School and attended BYU and LCCC. Kathie married her sweetheart, Bob Tinney, on January 1, 1973. Their children are Chris Tinney of Arizona, Daniel Tinney of Wyoming, and Suzy Tinney of Wyoming. Kathie was an exemplary mother and her children were her life. The couple took in many foster kids over the years as well as foreign exchange students. Anyone who was a friend of Kathie's felt like family. She enjoyed crafts, fishing, garage sales and minerals. Kathie loved everybody unconditionally and would give anybody the shirt off of her back. She worked many jobs, the most recent was at McCormick Junior High School in the Behavior Lab. Kathie is survived by her husband, Bob; two sons, Chris and Dan; her daughter, Suzy; and her grandchildren, Brianna, Celeste, Riley, Summer, Eryn, Marc, Sean, Chaisley, Zack, Isaiah, and Mariah. She is preceded in death by both parents, Don and Alice Unger; and her brother, Bruce Unger Kathie's family will receive friends on Friday, March 22, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. as the Schrader Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, March 23rd at 12:00 p.m. noon at the Saratoga Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 950 Hugus Avenue, Saratoga Wyoming. There will be a viewing beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the church with a funeral service to follow at noon. Kathie will be buried in the Encampment Cemetery in Encampment, WY. Kathie will be missed not only by family but by all who came to know her.
