Kathleen Karnes "Kay" Adams passed away Thursday morning, October 8, 2015, at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center with friends and family by her side. Kay was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on September 11, 1924, to Charles Karnes and Sarah Seigel. There, she attended the College of Saint Theresa (now Avila University). In 1949, she married Gerald "Gerry" Adams. Soon after, Gerry re-joined the Air Force, and they began a 35-year journey that took them from Morocco to Paris-more than twenty moves, Kay often said. They retired in Cheyenne in 1977 and Kay became an active tennis player, swimmer and runner. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary's Cathedral. She belonged to the Bishop's Guild, was a long-time member of the choir, and she became a Eucharistic Minister. Kay is survived by her three daughters, Patricia McCarrick of New Canaan, CT, Megan Cook of London, England, and Missy Adams of New York; and four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerry, and her brother, Robert Karnes. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral with a Funeral Liturgy to be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. An interment service will be held at F.E. Warren AFB Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a reception following the interment service. No donations in her memory are necessary. Please light a candle or say a prayer for her.
