Kathryn Raines

January 3, 1915 — April 24, 2014

Kathryn Raines of Cheyenne passed away at Life Care Center of Cheyenne on April 24, 2014 at the age of 99. She was born January 3, 1915 in Brookfield MO to Dan and Ruth Venable. She graduated from Ault High School in 1932 and earned her bachelor's degree in education from Northern Colorado University. Kathryn taught in Grover Colorado, Fairfield California and Cheyenne School Districts, retiring in 1977. She was a member and active participant in many organizations including Mizpa Chapter Eastern Star, and a number of educational associations. She belonged to many Heritage Societies, including National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Huguenot Society U.S. Daughters of 1812, Magna Charta Dames and Barons, Mayflower Society and National Society Colonial Dames of the 17th Century She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Ray Adams, second husband Perry Raines, daughter Corene Keller, 1 granddaughter, 1 grandson as well as three sisters and a brother. She is survived by her daughters, Judy Norman and Diana (Robert) Downey of Cheyenne and stepson John Raines of South Carolina. She leaves five grandchildren, Michelle Downey of Cheyenne, Chris Downey of Berthoud, CO, Kevin Raines of North Carolina, Barry Keller and Aaron Keller.
