Kaye Barrett

Kaye Barrett, 70, of Cheyenne left this earth June 4, 2017 at her home. She was born August 4, 1946 in Cheyenne to Albert "Slim" and Leota Schrul. She worked with the engineers of the IRS for 20 years. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Burns Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, a member of 4H, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, lifetime member of National Rifle Association, and Wyoming Sportsman for Wildlife. Kaye grew up on a farm in Eastern Laramie County. She met her husband, Charlie Barrett, while attending the University of Wyoming and enjoyed 41 years of marriage before his passing in 2008. They raised three children, living in Washington, Wyoming and Colorado. She was an avid gardener and agriculture enthusiast. Kaye was a passionate outdoors woman and hunter. She enthusiastically hunted everything she could with a license. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was fond of traveling. She had an eternally youthful nature, enthusiasm for life, and was incapable of sitting still. She was fiercely independent and Wyoming proud. She is survived by her three children, Lyle Barrett of Centennial, WY, Stephenie Barrett of Arvada, CO, and Johanna (Jerry) Thomas of Cheyenne; six grandchildren, Charles Barrett, Jessica Schwartz, Courtney Boyke (Joseph), Sophia Lucero, Connor Thomas, and Teah Thomas; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Those who wish may contribute in Kaye's memory to the University of Wyoming Foundation or the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Memory services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017, in the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. There will be a celebration of Kaye's life following the service at her home, 712 Dayshia Lane, Cheyenne.
