Kenneth Berg

Mr. Kenneth "Kenny" Berg, 87, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013, in Cheyenne. Kenny was born on the family farm near Tioga, North Dakota, to John and Karen (Sjomling) Berg. Kenny was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army, having served in World War II and Korea. He married Joyce L. Farbo in Cando, ND, on May 30, 1953. Shortly after their marriage, Ken and Joyce moved to Riverdale, ND, where he worked on the Garrison Dam Project. After relocating to Lakota, ND, he served as a North Dakota State Highway Patrolman for nine years before settling in Cheyenne in 1966. He was a life member of BPOE #0660 Elks Club for 54 years, the American Legion Post #6 for 23 years, and the Airport Golf Club. Kenny is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Berg of Cheyenne; his daughter, Marla Blanton and husband, Bill, of Loveland, CO; four sons, Martin Berg and wife, Sonya, of Cheyenne, Kelly Berg and wife, Karla, of Carpenter, Kyle Berg and wife, Loretta, of Cheyenne, and Jon Berg and wife, Melody, of Cheyenne; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings; and his daughter, Janna. A memory service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel with The Reverend David Stratton officiating. An inurnment service with military honors will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home, Cheyenne.
