Kenneth Davis

Dr. Kenneth M. Davis, 88, of Cheyenne passed away on August 26, 2016 at Davis Hospice Center with his family by his side. He was born February 1, 1928 in Chariton, IA to Homer and Enid Davis. Ken began his teaching career in Woodbine, IA, where he coached girls' basketball. He married Treva Lange on June 8, 1957 in Newark, NE. After moving to Wyoming, he continued teaching and received his doctorate in education from the University of Wyoming. Ken was a teacher and principal in the Laramie County School District #1 for 37 years, including being a principal at Johnson Jr. High School and McCormick Jr. High School. He also served as principal at Churchill, Corlett, Gilchrist, Ingleside, Rossman, and Willadsen elementary schools. After his retirement Ken served as Sergeant-at-Arms in the Wyoming House of Representatives. He was a 50-year member of First United Methodist Church; and a member of the Airport Golf Course, the Wyoming Education Association, Mended Hearts Association and a board member of Wyoming Educator Benefit Trust. He enjoyed playing bridge in local bridge clubs and was a volunteer at Davis Hospice Center. He was a devoted husband and an outstanding father and grandfather. Ken is survived by his sons, John (Lynn) Davis of Cheyenne and Blake Davis of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Preston and Madison; brother, Jerry Davis of Chariton, IA; sisters, Jeannine Vaughn and Carol Davis of Des Moines, IA; and sisters-in-law Verla Lange of Gibbon, NE and Lucille Lange of Lincoln, NE. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Those who wish may contribute to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, Davis Hospice Center or K & T Davis Scholarship Fund at Laramie County Community College. Services will be Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Services are under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
