Kenneth Faber

November 27, 1925 — March 22, 2019

Kenneth E. Faber, 93, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 at the Davis Hospice Center. Kenneth was born November 27, 1925 on the family homestead in Little Bear, Wyoming, a son of the late Barney M. and Florence S. (Hume) Faber. Kenneth enlisted in the United State Army and served in the European Theater during World War II. He fought in numerous battles including the Battle of the Bulge. He was wounded during his service and awarded a Purple Heart. His service continued after the war ended where he remained in Europe and served as a guard for prisoners of war. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the homestead and ranched north of Cheyenne, in Chugwater and in Encampment. He also worked as a master trim carpenter for a number of years. His love for the outdoors included hunting and fishing, and he always loved a good dog and a good horse. He was an excellent roper and was a member of USTRC and team roped in the NOTRA finals in Reno, Nevada. His other interests included serving as a mason in the Chugwater Masonic Lodge #23, and for a period of time be involved in Cheyenne Frontier Days. Kenneth is survived by his children, Katherine (Larry) Hume of Hawk Springs, WY, and David N. (Nancy Reno) Troastle of Cheyenne; one grandson, Grady Timm of Cheyenne; his constant companion, neighbor and aunt following the death of his wife, Lorraine Downey; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 46 years, Joan C. (Nelson) Faber; and two brothers, W. Ralph and Clarence "Johnny" Faber. A memory service will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
