LaJeanne T. Gilmer, 80, of Cheyenne, passed away at her home on Sunday, February 8, 2015, following a long struggle with cancer. LaJeanne was born October 9, 1934, in Bainbridge, Georgia, eldest daughter of the late Walter Horace and Emma Clyde (Smith) Thompson. A resident of Cheyenne for the past 40 years, LaJeanne worked as an administrative assistant for the State of Wyoming and Mountain Bell. She also owned and operated a Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio. She was a former President and member of the Lions Club, and was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a wonderful friend, wife, mother and grandmother. She demonstrated incredible strength and good humor during her long struggle with cancer. LaJeanne is survived by her loving husband, Scott Gilmer; three children, Will Gilmer, Doug Gilmer, and Jan Coughenour, and their spouses; three siblings, Judy Jeffords, Tommy Thompson and Jeff Thompson; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memory service will be celebrated on Friday, February 13, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with The Reverend Elizabeth McVicker officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
