Lane E. Ten Eyck of Keystone, South Dakota died peacefully in Thornton, Colorado on March 16, 2018 surrounded by family. Lane was born November 28, 1943 in Melrose, Minnesota, a son of the late Barbara (Hollinshead) and James A. Ten Eyck. Lane was an educator for the majority of his career. In his "real life" his wife and children knew him best as an avid adventurer and outdoorsman. He was continuously planning his next great adventure, sometimes before the current one was done. He loved camping, fishing, hunting and exploring and was excited to see what was around the next bend. He enjoyed having a boat to tinker with out on the water, be it rafting, canoeing or fishing. He entertained his children and grandchildren with stories of his life and tall-tales alike, occasionally making it difficult to separate fact from fiction. Recognizing every accomplishment his children achieved, Lane would brag frequently about his children to anyone willing to listen. He was proud of their combined military service of close to 100 years, their educational achievements and their willingness to embrace life as it came to them. Lane is survived by his wife, Clare (Rossiter); children, Jessica Susan, Thomas Brett (Michelle), Edward Clay, Derek Lane (Amanda), Katrina Florence (Jonathon Bieler), Joseph Levi (Elizabeth), James Aaron (Emily), John Caleb (Sheila), and Benjamin Lawrence; his brother, Jim; and sisters, Susan and Sally; proud grandfather of 31 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law. He is loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home with a Vigil for the Deceased to follow at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, March 23rd at 12:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. An interment service will be held at Olivet Cemetery.
