Laura Veltkamp

Laura K. (King) Veltkamp, 35, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away tragically on Saturday, November 1, 2014. Laura was born February 27, 1979, in Visalia, California, daughter to Mark Wesley King and Sandra (Sharp) Cohen. She grew up participating in the West Visalia and Tulare County 4-H programs and AWANAS. She was active at Grace Community Church and Neighborhood Church in Visalia. She graduated from Whitney High School, Visalia in 1997 and was a missionary to Guatemala. She always worked at least one job and was recently employed at Sierra Trading Post. She was actively involved with the Cheyenne CapiDolls Roller Derby Team where her name was "Butterfly Mama". She enjoyed making quilts, running, family, friends and fun. She is survived by her four children, Kathleen Grace, Anika, Ellie, and Ian, all of Cheyenne; former spouse and father to the children, Ken Veltkamp; mother, Sandra Cohen (Danny) of Lincoln, CA; siblings, Leandra King Cardenas (Jesus) of Terra Bella CA, Heidi Rounsfull of Roseville, CA, Sean King of Pana, IL, and Nathan Rounsfull of Paradise, CA, several uncles, aunts, and cousins; eight nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by father; grandfather, James King; and grandmothers, Addie King and Helen Sharp. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home. A memory service will be celebrated on Friday, November 7th at 2:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader Funeral Home, 2222 Russell Ave. with Pastor Dave Carlson officiating. An interment service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Schrader Reception Center. Her memory will also be celebrated in Visalia, California, at a later date. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Laura Veltkamp Memorial Fund, c/o Wyoming State Bank, 5538 Yellowstone Road, Cheyenne, WY 82009. This memorial fund will benefit her four children.
