LaVerne McGuire

LaVerne D. McGuire of Chugwater, Wyoming, passed away January 19, 2013, at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland, WY. She was born July 21, 1938, to Vernon G. and Violet E. (Locke)Blodgett in Wheatland. She graduated from Wheatland High School and married James R. McGuire January 10, 1956. She followed her husband to different places in Wyoming with his job as a telephone lineman, and they settled in Chugwater where she worked as a bank receptionist for 35 years. She then became a full-time employee of her family's ranch fulfilling every duty necessary as a wife of a rancher. She loved being with her family, gardening and riding her horse. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James R. McGuire; one son, David J. McGuire; one daughter, Cheryl A. Robinson; her mother, Violet Blodgett; sister Loretta Whinery; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon G. Blodgett; brother ,John E. Blodgett; and a son, John V. McGuire. Visitation will be Wednesday Noon to 8:00 p.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home. Private family services will be held at the family ranch.
