Lawrence J. Gunton, 92, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away May 14, 2019 at the Davis Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family. Lawrence was born October 10, 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of the late John H. and Rose (Wulf) Gunton. Lawrence was a graduate of Willoughby High School in Willoughby, Ohio. He served in the United States Army during World War II and following his honorable discharge, he married Dorothy M. Christensen on April 4, 1947. Lawrence worked for the Wyoming Highway Department as an accountant for 37 years. Following his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, bike riding around town, and building with Legos. He will be remembered for his commitment to his love of his family and to the First Christian Church. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy M. Gunton; two daughters, Carolyn R. (Dick) Gunton-Lewis and LuAnn L. (Dennis) Chaffin; one grandchild, Ruby (Kody) Zubrod, and two step grandchildren David (Stacey) Lewis and Pamela Lewis; two great-grandchildren, Rosalie Zubrod, Andrew Zubrod, two step great-grandchildren Ryan Lewis and Tyler Lewis; and two sisters, Ruth Gunton and Helen DePompei. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Robert Gunton, Norman Gunton and Roy Gunton. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A memory service will be celebrated on Friday, May 17th at 11:00 a.m.at the First Christian Church. An interment service will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery.
