Lee Arden “Dunk” Gerrish, 79, died July 2, 2023 in his home in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Born November 29, 1943, in Joliet, Illinois to Jesse Arden Gerrish and Eilleen Margaret (Van Duyne) Gerrish. He moved to Cody, Wyoming when he was 4 years old. His main hobbies were: hunting, fishing and motorcycling.
He and Cheryl motorcycled in 49 states and 5 Canadian provinces. Dunk was a dedicated family man and loved to camp with his family. He enjoyed music and was able to name artists and songs from his childhood through the 70s. Dunk enjoyed reading, reciting and writing poetry. He watched Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every night and could answer the questions like he was on the show. He also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles online.
He served 4 years in the Navy, attended college for 1 year and worked for Wycon/Coastal as an A Operator and retired after 33 years. Dunk was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and an active member of the YMCA.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cheryl (Wages) Gerrish, sisters Carol and Rena, 2 children Christopher (Elaine) Gerrish and Pamela (David) Avey, 17 grandchildren: Chris’s children; Katelynn, Patrick, Pam’s children; Nica (Mark), Blaine (Bonnie), Jonathan (Rocky), Chrae (Derrick), Kylinn, Jesse (Allyssa), Britan, Cade, Jase, Gage, Autumn, Eli, Kira, Peggy’s children; Tanner and Riley, 15 great grandchildren; MyKenzie, MyKayla, Zaylee, Skylee, Zaiden, Talon, Faith, Serenity, Phoebe, Sean, Thiago, Karsen, Ryker, RayLinn and Ashton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sharon, brother Blaine, daughter Margaret “Peggy”, and great grandson Lee Daniel.
Service to be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on July 15th at 10:00 am.
