Leona DuVall

February 20, 1915 — March 21, 2011

Mrs. Leona (Strickland) DuVall, 96, of Little Bear Community, Wyoming, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011, at the Life Care Center of Cheyenne. Mrs. DuVall was born February 20, 1915, in Floris, Iowa, a daughter of the Phillip Odell and Beulah (Hancock) Strickland. Leona married Hoyt L. DuVall on June 1, 1932, in Kimball, Nebraska, and together they worked the family ranch. She was her husband's "right hand man", going everywhere with Hoyt, whether it was shearing sheep, tending cattle, or going to town to get parts. She loved her role as homemaker, and she enjoyed caring for her family and her home. Her many interests included quilting, embroidery, crocheting and serving in the Little Bear Ladies Club, the Little Bear Grange and as Past Worthy Matron of the Chugwater Eastern Star. She remained at the ranch in Little Bear until the age of 94. Leona is survived by her daughter, Louise Jacobsen and husband, George Wayne, of Albin, WY; three grandsons, Ronald Jacobsen and wife, Kim, Donald Jacobsen and wife, Joni, and Larry Jacobsen and wife, Anne; six great-grandchildren, Brian Jacobsen and wife, Ashley, Eric Jacobsen and fiancée, Samantha Skoranski, Patrick Jacobsen, Rabecca Rodriguez and husband, Jose, Michelle Jacobsen and Kayla Jacobsen; five great-great-grandchildren, Brooke Lea Jacobsen, Brayden Hoyt Jacobsen, Michael Rodriguez, Gabriel Rodriguez and Carolina Rodriguez; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Berry of Cheyenne, and Nellie Dryden of Englewood, CO; brother-in-law, Presley DuVall and wife, Evelyn, of Salt Lake City, UT; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; and infant daughter; and a brother, Phillip Marion Strickland. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2011, from 2-4 p.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, March 25th at 1:30 p.m. at the Schrader Chapel with Pastor Donald Blomberg officiating. Interment will be held at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens. A reception will immediately follow at the Schrader Reception Facility.
