Leona Goheen

August 4, 1924 — September 25, 2011

Leona J. Goheen, 87, of Cheyenne died September 25, 2011 at Lifecare Center of Cheyenne. She was born August 4, 1924 and grew up in Fort Collins, CO. She married Dick Goheen on September 25, 1947. She was a loving mother and homemaker, who enjoyed gardening and grandchildren. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, YMCA and the Holy Trinity Prayer Chain and Hospitality Team. During the summer she taught Vacation Bible School, grew beautiful flowers, abundant vegetables, and wonderful raspberries. Leona was an accomplished canner and candy maker, which made her a very popular grandma. She is survived by her husband, Dick Goheen of Cheyenne; children, Bob Goheen of Florissant, CO, Mary (Bruce) Timmerman of Cheyenne, Nancy Kosoff of Aurora, CO, Dee (Scott) Busse of Hoquiam, WA, Donna (Dick) Zimmerman of Scio, OR, Judy (Morgan) Tjemsland of Toledo, WA, Rich (Mary) Goheen of Greeley, CO, Ron (RaeLynn) Goheen of Gill, CO and Sandy (Pat) Smith of Cheyenne; sisters, Bernadette Grass of Northglenn, CO, Mary Rose Bousselaire of Lakewood, CO and Theresa Michaud of Englewood, CO; 22 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, all of which were the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and by 7 brothers and sisters. A viewing will be from 3:00 p.m. followed by the Vigil for the Deceased 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. A Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Tom Cronkleton celebrating. After the service, cremation will be under the care of Schrader Funeral Home. Leona's grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. Contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1808 Hot Springs, Cheyenne, WY.
