Mrs. Leona Irene (Alexander) Harrington, 95, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011, at Mountain Towers Healthcare in Cheyenne. Mrs. Harrington was born May 18, 1915, in Campstool, Wyoming, a daughter of Horace and Alice (Vasey) Alexander. Leona was a graduate of Cheyenne High School. She married George W. Harrington and was happily married to George for 76 years until his death on May 16, 2009. She enjoyed being a homemaker and raising their three children. She also worked in the gift shop at Little America and the Warren Air Force Base Exchange. Her many interests included being an active member at First Christian Church, a member of the Good Sam RV Club and the Red Dale Camping Circle, and a long-time member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Leona is survived by her three children, Beverly Matthews and husband, Don, of Moraga, CA, Bob Harrington and wife, Mary Lou, of Cheyenne, and Larry Harrington and wife, Pam, of Casper, WY; eight grandchildren, Becky Lighty and husband, John, of Solon, IA, Janette Casner and husband, Jim, of Cheyenne, John Harrington and wife, Holly, of Salem, OR, David Harrington and wife, Carrie, of St. Paul, MN, Mike Harrington and wife, Bethany, of Bend, OR, Carli Allen and husband, Jason, of Port Orange, FL, Scott Matthews and wife, Janine, of La Mesa, CA, and Susan Lane and husband, Pat, of Dana Point, CA; a brother, George Alexander of Jackson Hole, WY; a sister, Betty Crider of Cheyenne; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Alice (Vasey) Alexander; her step-mother, Marie (Chantry) Alexander; her husband, George Harrington; and a brother, Orval Alexander. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011, from 8:00-9:30 a.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at First Christian Church with The Reverend Kurt Borgaard officiating.
