Leona A. (Ferro) Lindberg, the most loving daughter, sister, and aunt 68 years of age passed away on December 30, 2012 at her home from a sudden illness. Leona was born February 23, 1944 in Cheyenne, WY to Stephen and Lucille (Sara) Ferro. She was a graduate of Central High School class of 1962 and went on to work for Mountain Bell. Her friends in Cheyenne knew her as "Ace" and in Ava her friends knew her by the nickname "Charlie". Leona later moved to Anchorage, AK where she worked for Alascom Bell phone company and retired after 30 years as an engineer. In 1979 Leona and Fred Lindberg were united in marriage in Anchorage, AK. While working for Alascom she also helped run a fishing camp on the Kenai River with her husband Fred. They later retired to their farm in Ava, Mo, where they were members of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Ava. She loved being in the outdoors and worked with her husband, Fred on the farm in Ava. She enjoyed going to garage sales,auctions, fishing and even hunting. She was also a member of the local quilting club in Ava. Leona was preceded by her father, Stephen Ferro, her beloved Aunt, Lena "Titse" Sara whom she cared for during her final days and her grandparents. Leona is survived by her husband, Fred Lindberg, Ava, MO, her mother, Lucille Theresa Ferro, Ava, MO, a sister, Angela Sullivan of Mt. Pleasant, SC and brother, Bennie Ferro, of Virginia, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Sunday starting at 1:00 p.m. and continuing until the Vigil for the Deceased at 3:00 p.m. in Schrader Chapel. Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral. Interment to follow in Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David L. Sullivan, Jr., Mario Sara, Michael Sara, Stephen Ferro, Joseph D. Sara and Kurt Lieder. Honorary Pallbearers will include, Billy Sara, Eddie Clark, Brandon Lieder, Richard Sara, Paul Cavalier and Stephen Ferro, Jr. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) on behalf of her father Stephen Ferro.
