LeRoy Varos

LeRoy Alonzo Varos, 73, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday morning, February 16, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. LeRoy was born February 8, 1940, in Arroyo Secco, New Mexico, a son of the late Anastacio and Corina (Duran) Varos. Leroy served in the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged February 13, 1963. He was an iron worker/welder and was a member of Local #454, retiring from LCSD #1. His passions were fishing, caring for his yard, singing, playing guitar and a sports fan. He is survived by his most loving and faithful wife of 52 years, Pilar E. (Sanchez)Varos of Cheyenne; his daughter, Molly M. Varos of Englewood, CO; his two sons, Alonzo and Joseph Varos of Cheyenne; two sisters, Erlinda O. Varos and Rosa E. Lujan, both of Cheyenne; seven grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and various nieces and nephews throughout Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anastacio V. and Corina D. Varos; and two brothers, Elias and Juanito Varos. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 18, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Schrader Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at 5:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with a Vigil for the Deceased and Rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 19th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Carl Gallinger as celebrant. An interment service will follow at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
