Lois Elizabeth Hofmann Deaver, age 91, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019. A lifelong resident of Cheyenne, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Joseph Hofmann, and was born in Cheyenne on November 13, 1927. She graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1944, and continued her studies at Mills College in Oakland, California and the University of Colorado in Boulder, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. In 1946, Lois served as Miss Frontier during the fiftieth anniversary of Cheyenne Frontier Days, marking the third generation of the Hofmann family that had been actively involved in the celebration. Her father, R.J. Hofmann, was Chairman of the Frontier Days Committee in 1946. Lois Elizabeth Hofmann and David Clement Deaver (1924-1996) were married on August 20, 1949 in Cheyenne, and divorced in 1977. She is survived by her four children, Susan Elizabeth Deaver of New York City, NY, David Clement Deaver III of Durango, CO, Janet Hofmann McLean of Broomfield, CO, and Marcia Elaine Swisher of Gilbert, AZ; eight grandchildren, Sean, Megan and Colin Deaver, Laura and Leigh McLean, and Damion, Kyle and McKenna Swisher; and four great-grandchildren, Kaia Deaver, Kenny Swisher-Koltweit and Nora and Elliot Swisher. In addition to devoting much of her time to her family, her hobbies included gardening, sewing and Duplicate Bridge. Mrs. Deaver was actively involved in many community affairs, including Women's Civic League, Delta Delta Delta, American Red Cross of Laramie County, Cathedral Home for Children in Laramie, St. Mark's Episcopal Church and the Cheyenne Civic Center Development Fund. From 1964 to 1987, she was active with the Symphony and Choral Society of Cheyenne, serving as President for three years. In honor of her many years of service to the organization, the opening concert of the 1987-1988 season was dedicated to Mrs. Deaver. Private family services will be held. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. Donations in her memory can be made to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter or charity of choice.
