Lois "Jean" Wiseman, 87, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away April 21, 2019 in Cheyenne. Jean was born December 28, 1931 in Ft. Morgan, Colorado to Lois and Herbert Graves. Jean grew up on the family farm in Ft. Morgan and attended Colorado A & M where she met Sherman "Sherm" Wiseman. They married on June 12, 1955 and moved to Wyoming, living on a series of ranches before settling on the family property south of Wheatland. While there, Jean worked at and ultimately directed the Head Start program. In 1975 they moved to Cheyenne and Jean went to work at the Trading Post sporting goods store. Customers were often surprised by the strength of her grip earned by years of milking cows, and the depth of her knowledge of firearms and fishing equipment. Jean was noted for her ability to feed whoever showed up at her door no matter how many there were or what time it was. She was the glue that held the family together with an uncanny ability to make the most meager resources sufficient for any occasion. She made strangers feel like family and family look better than we had any right to. She is survived by her brother, John Graves; five children, Lynn Sammis (Les Mead), Sherman "Eric" Wiseman (Heather), Charlie Wiseman, Eddie Louise Clark (Chip), and Earl Wiseman (Nancy); 12 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings; and husband, Sherman Wesley Wiseman. A memory service will be celebrated on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lakeview Chapel at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home. A reception will follow in the Schrader Reception Center. Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.
