Lorene Schrader

Lorene W. Schrader, 101, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, died November 2, 2015, at Davis Hospice Center. Lorene was born February 16, 1914, in Cottage Grove, Oregon, to Melvin and Lillie Winingar. She married Marvin G. Schrader on June 7, 1941, in Sheridan WY. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Past President of PEO Chapter C, Past president of X JWC and a Past Worthy Matron of Oakleaf Chapter #6, Order of the Eastern Star. She attended the University of Wyoming and graduated with distinguished honors and did her post-graduate work at Columbia University. She started at a normal school in a one room school house in Echeetah, WY, and later taught English, home room and served as a librarian in the Cheyenne school system. Lorene and Marvin owned and operated Schrader Funeral Home, having purchased the business from Marvin's father, Wesley A. Schrader. She retired in the 1990's Lorene is survived by her children, Robert (Betty) Schrader of Cheyenne, Donald (Beverly) Schrader of Cheyenne, and Carol (Mike) Ray of Sedona, AZ; sister, Melba Harlin of Sun City West, AZ; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Schrader; parents, Melvin and Lillie Winingar; and sisters, Viola Heinz, Velma Cook and Virginia Reed. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. An interment service will follow at the Beth El Cemetery.
