Lorraine Steinmetz

Lorraine (Erickson) Steinmetz, 86, of Cheyenne died at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, on March 13, 2014. She was born on June 24, 1927, in Perth, North Dakota, to Fred L. and Hertha (Banse) Erickson. She was raised in the Rolla area on a farm and later moved to Chinook, Montana, where she attended school and graduated from Chinook High School in 1945. Lorraine married Donald G. Steinmetz on January 19, 1947 and they lived in various towns in Montana before moving to Chugwater, Wyoming in 1969. Lorraine also lived in Wheatland before moving to Cheyenne in 1979. Lorraine worked for and retired from the State of Wyoming, Worker's Compensation Division in 1992. Lorraine was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed church activities, her grandchildren, reading, bridge and gardening. Lorraine is survived by her daughters Linda (Larry) Knutson of Amsterdam, Montana, Mary (Rick) Grant of Glenrock and Amy (Mike) Miller of Cheyenne and daughter-in-law Babs Steinmetz of Greeley, Colorado. Ten grandchildren: Chad (Jenifer) Knutson, Kimberly (Otis) Dilley, Parker & Lindsay Steinmetz, Brendon, Andrew & Whitney Grant, Madison & Benjamin Harrison, and Brooke Miller. And also seven great-grandchildren: Austin & Tyrell Schock, Teia Knutson, Shaylyn & Chaz Dilley, and Ayden & Oakley Lamb. She is also survived by her sister Irma Tweedy and brother Roger (Bea) Erickson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Larry and brothers Richard Erickson and Donald Erickson. Memorial services will be at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cheyenne on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 2:00PM. Burial will be at Kuper Memorial Cemetery in Chinook, Montana at a later date. Donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
