Mainard Wacker, 86, of Cheyenne passed away September 23, 2019 at Davis Hospice Center. He was born May 9, 1933 in Scottsbluff, NE to Arthur and JoElla Wacker. He married Sarah Hawes on August 11, 1956 in Cheyenne. He was a veteran of the US Army and US Navy. He was retired from the Wyoming Highway Department as a civil engineer. He was a member of First Congregational Church, American Society of Civil Engineers, National Academy of Science, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, Military Officers Association of America, National Model Railroaders Association, Train Collectors Association and City Band. He was a Sunday School teacher for adults and children, moderator of First Congregational Church and was active in the Colorado Brass Band. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Wacker of Cheyenne; children, Jeffrey (Therese) Wacker of Indiana, PA and Jaye (Jenny) Wacker of Cheyenne; daughter-in-law Nancy Russell; and grandchildren, Brian, Elizabeth and Hannah Mae. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, John Mainard Wacker. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at First Congregational Church with military honors and a reception. Private interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Those who wish may contribute to Davis Hospice Center, First Congregational Church or Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra.
