Malcolm L. Cook, 88, of Cheyenne passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016, in Hiawatha, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 2nd, at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Cheyenne. Malcolm was born Oct. 24, 1927. He married Phyllis Messer on Aug. 26, 1951, in Laramie. He was a lifelong resident of Wyoming, and was a high school teacher and later curriculum coordinator for the school district. Malcolm served as a heavy weapons specialist and supply clerk in the U.S. Army in the 25th combat infantry division in Korea. Malcolm wrote "First Church", a history of the Methodist church in Cheyenne. Malcolm was active in professional organizations including the Wyoming Education Association. Malcolm is survived by two sons, Michael (Kt) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Norman (Leslie) of Long Beach, California; and two granddaughters, Elizabeth and Amy Cook. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis; parents, Charley and Hattie; and brother, Donald. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asks contributions be made to the Malcolm Cook Memorial Fund, First United Methodist Church, 108 E. 18th St., Cheyenne, WY.
