Marcella (Putnam) Iverson

Marcella M. (Putnam) Iverson, 92, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away March 30, 2016 at Davis Hospice Center. She was born April 1, 1923, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Julius Maurer and Hattie (Wagler) Maurer. She graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1941, after which she attended the University of Wyoming at Laramie, Wyoming, where she was active in Kappa Delta social sorority and Phi Gamma Nu, honorary business sorority. During her working years, she was employed by the Warren Live Stock Company, attorneys Frank M. Gallivan and James R. Learned, and the State of Wyoming. She also helped her husband, Arthur L. Putnam, in the City News which they owned for 20 years. She was active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, a 50-year member and past president of X-JWC, member of State Employees Retirement Group, member of Paintbrush Red Hat Club, past member of Cheyenne Airport Golf Club and loved to play bridge in several bridge groups. She is survived by her son, John A. Putnam and his wife, Ginny of Gypsum, Colorado, two granddaughters, Apryl Salazar and her husband, Michael A. Salazar of Silt, Colorado and Katherine Ahern and her husband, Todd Ahern, of Gypsum, Colorado, and a great-grandchildren, Michael, Jacob, Samantha and Jayda Salazar of Silt and Logan Ahern of Gypsum, and a new great-great-grandchild Chloe Salazar of Silt, a sister-in-law, Ruth Maurer of Hamilton, Ohio, and numerous nieces and nephews and six step daughters. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur L. Putnam, after a marriage of 55 years, and her second husband, Gerald A. Iverson, who passed away October 19, 2004, her parents, her brother, Galen J. Maurer and two sisters-in-law, Joy Barnard and Nancy Witters, and two brothers-in-law, Orville F. Witters and Rev. Earl H. Barnard. Funeral services will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Monday at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Allison George officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Iverson's name to X-JWC or the Davis Hospice Center.
