Marcella Williams, 96, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at the Davis Hospice Center with her family at her side. She was born July 18, 1915, in Highland Center, Iowa, to William and Ferne Robertson and had lived in Cheyenne for over 65 years. She graduated from high school in Hedrick, Iowa , in 1933. After growing up together, she married Chester Williams in October 1941. In 1944, they were stationed at Francis E. Warren Army Base and have made their home in Cheyenne since that time. The couple was married 64 years before his death. While living in Iowa , she worked in banking. In her later years, she worked for the Laramie County Treasurer's office. Marcella was always involved in her children's activities as a Cub Scout/Boy Scout leader, Girl Scout leader, Y-Teen leader and 4-H activities. Marcella is a member of the First Christian Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) for over 40 year, and is a lifetime member of Eastern Star, joining in 1941 Friends will remember her as someone who never missed a good garage sale or auction. Due to her knowledge of antiques, she was always in demand to give appraisals or share her knowledge on antique glassware or jewelry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; her parents, William and Ferne; and a brother, Melvin. She is survived by two children, Marcene VanderHaar of Cheyenne and Warren Williams and wife, Christa, of Castle Rock, Colorado; and a very special longtime family friend, Dawna Hill. A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, November 22, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the Schrader Chapel with The Reverend Kurt Borgaard officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Davis Hospice Center, 6000 Syracuse Dr., cheyenne, WY 82009.
