Marion M. Griffin, a resident of Laramie, WY, passed away on February 11, 2023, in Cheyenne,
WY. Marion was born on August 31, 1932, in Washington, DC to Chester Glen Green and Betty
Joines Green.
Marion was a successful entrepreneur who owned and operated various businesses in Laramie
since 1959, including the Chief Cafe and Waffle Shop, Cowboy Bar, Diamond Horseshoe
Supper Club, Cavalryman Supper Club, Cowboy Saloon, Domino Construction (with Bill
Deberard), and the Rancher Restaurant. She also owned two ranches, the Red Ladder Ranch
in Centennial, WY, and the Diamond Ranch in Grand Junction, CO. Marion had a passion for
rodeos and horses, especially her beloved red sorrel, Phoenix. She also enjoyed traveling to
Las Vegas and Black Hawk to try her luck at the slot machines.
Marion was known for her generosity and community-mindedness. She supported many local
charities and organizations throughout her career, including Safe House, Cathedral Home,
Laramie Jubilee Days, PRCA roping, 4H, FFA, and many other good causes. Marion served
one term on the Laramie City Council.
Marion was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be deeply
missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her son, Ken Robinson (Pennie) of
Cheyenne, WY; her sister, Patty Lavin (Verdie) of Miles City, MT; her grandchildren, Paul
Robinson (Lanae) of Laramie, WY; Brigit Booth of Casper, WY; and John Robinson of Los
Angeles, CA; and great-grandchildren, Brendan Kretzer of Casper, WY; Dealyn Robinson and
Sadie Robinson of Laramie, WY. Marion is also survived by her extended family, Zach Deberard (Johanna) and Sam Deberard of Laramie, WY.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Deberard (life partner), and Tommy Green (brother).
The family would like to express their gratitude to Brenda Spiegelberg of Laramie for her
compassionate care of Marion in her final years and to the nurses and doctors at Ivinson
Memorial Hospital in Laramie and Davis Hospice in Cheyenne, WY.
