Marlan D. Turner, 79, of Cheyenne, died March 6, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Cheyenne. Marlan was born on Oct. 23, 1934 in Meckling, SD, the son of Earl and Lucille (Ahrendt) Turner. Marlan served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborn Division during the Korean Conflict. On Nov. 23, 1963, Marlan married Joyce Harms in Brookings, SD. At the time of his retirement, Marlan was Safety Supervisor for Consolidated Freightways. Marlan was a member of the Wyoming Trucking Association , the Moose Lodge and American Legion Post 6 in Cheyenne. He is survived by his wife Joyce Cheyenne, four daughters Kim (Kelly) Talley, Teresa (Kevin) Baade, Lisa (Leon) Drew, and Renae (John) Kovall and a son Clifford Turner. Also surviving is a sister Barbara Karel, and 10 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Marlan was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters and a grandson. Those who wish may contribute to Cheyenne VA Hospital ICU and Hospice in Marlan's name. Per Marlan's request there will be no services held. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
